Thanks eileen. Homeschoolers and very near and dear to my heart. I'm hopeful that most of the material in the book will apply to homeschoolers since the focus is on helping parents become calm leaders when it comes to their children's academics.

Thank you for this post! Listening and giving attention (without interruptions) is a difficult task for parents (myself included). I have often thought that parents need to give their kids "one hour" sessions similar to seeing a therapist where they would have that parents undivided attention and respect. It always worked out best at bedtime for my kids.
Here is another positive post about youth and young adults: Do you see what they see? - http://tinyurl.com/2cu4g4z

Hi Mr. McNerny! Will you be including a section in your book for us homeschooling parents? :) I try not to be a "helicopter parent" in the late afternoon/evening, when the kids are doing their homework. It gives me a chance to take off the teacher hat too.

Your wife's friend sounds like such an inspiration! One I need; that's for sure! HA! I'm slowly finding balance myself, between home, school, family-time, church, friends.... LIFE. Mine is more in the mental-prep area. :) There is such a place.... right?

My daughter is one of the MOST creative people I know. And when I say that, I mean "EVER!"

Our pastor says Love is spelled T-I-M-E.

I couldn't agree with you more Mr. McNerny! Spend time with the children! Be a part of their lives. Take interest in them. I see many disengaged parents, yet those are often the parents saying, "Why do these kids act like that? What's wrong with them?"

And who knows... We might even enjoy spending time with them. Let alone learn a few things ;)
